Step-by-step prep, shop workflow, and aftercare guidance for your tint appointment in Gilroy.
On the Calendar: Window Tint Install Day
When you book tint with Blackout Window Tinting, our goal is to keep your schedule smooth, your vehicle protected, and every expectation clear before you hand over the keys. Use this guide as your playbook for what happens before, during, and after we install your film.
The Week Before Your Appointment
- Confirm the package, shade, and warranty notes we sent via email or text. Reply with any changes so we arrive ready with film cut sheets and hardware protection.
- Snap a few daylight photos of your vehicle or property glass and upload them through the contact form so our technicians can prep patterns and trim pieces.
- Plan transportation. Most full-vehicle jobs take about three hours. Tesla Model X, Model Y, and large SUVs may need closer to four.
Tip: If you are stacking tint with paint protection or ceramic coating, let us know. We block additional bay time and stage materials so the full bundle stays on schedule.
Appointment Day Check-In
- Arrive five to ten minutes before your slot. Park in the marked drop-off spaces in front of the bay doors.
- A technician will walk the vehicle with you, note existing blemishes, and meter the front windows so you understand California compliance.
- We confirm film selection one more time, review the warranty, and collect the deposit if it is still open.
Once paperwork is squared away, head to work, downtown Gilroy, or our lounge. We send text updates if timing shifts.
Inside the Bay: Our Installation Workflow
- We prep the glass with filtered water, safe scrapers, and lint-free towels so the adhesive bonds cleanly.
- Panels are hand-patterned unless your vehicle qualifies for computer cut kits. We shave frameless windows and hide film below weather seals for factory edges.
- Interior panels, switches, and electronics are protected with towels and low-tack masking.
- Ceramic and IR films receive additional squeegee passes to remove microbubbles before they cure.
Every vehicle exits the bay with a two-person inspection—one technician checks from the outside, another from the cabin to catch any touchups while the film is still wet.
Pick-Up and Delivery Checklist
- Expect a call or text 15 minutes before your vehicle is staged for pickup.
- We review each window in daylight, point out the few small moisture pockets that will gas out in the first few days, and verify defroster line clearance if we tinted your rear glass.
- Your warranty registration is emailed the same day. We also send the care guide as a PDF and text message link.
If you spot anything after you leave, reply to the delivery text or email—adjustments are quick while the film is fresh.
Aftercare in the First Week
- Keep windows rolled up for 48 hours so the film can cure along the edges.
- Avoid ammonia-based cleaners. A drop of mild soap in filtered water and a microfiber towel is all you need.
- Expect a light haze or a few dots for up to seven days. They disappear as moisture escapes the film.
- Book your free inspection if anything looks off. We prefer to see it in person rather than guess over messages.
Add-Ons That Pair Well with Tint
- Paint Protection Film for high-impact zones that collect rock chips.
- Windshield Protection to guard against pitting and cracks on Highway 101.
- Ceramic Coating for glass and paint so road grime rinses later with minimal effort.
We can bundle these during the same appointment if you let us know before install day.
