"How much does powder coating cost?"
It's the first question everyone asks—and the hardest to answer without seeing your parts. But after thousands of powder coating jobs at our Gilroy facility, we can give you real ranges.
Here's the complete cost breakdown.
Wheel Powder Coating Prices
Wheels are our most common powder coating job. Pricing depends on size, condition, and finish type.
Standard Wheel Pricing
| Wheel Size | Price Per Wheel | Full Set (4) |
|---|---|---|
| 15-17" | $100–$125 | $400–$500 |
| 18-19" | $125–$150 | $500–$600 |
| 20-22" | $150–$200 | $600–$800 |
| 24"+ | $200–$250 | $800–$1,000 |
What Affects Wheel Pricing
Condition matters most. A wheel with heavy curb rash needs repair before coating, adding $25-75 per wheel.
| Factor | Price Impact |
|---|---|
| Light cleaning needed | Included |
| Heavy contamination | +$15–$25/wheel |
| Minor curb rash | +$25–$50/wheel |
| Major curb damage | +$50–$75/wheel |
| Bent wheel (if repairable) | +$75–$150/wheel |
Finish Type Pricing
Not all powder coats cost the same:
| Finish | Additional Cost |
|---|---|
| Solid colors (black, white, red) | Included in base price |
| Metallic finishes | +$10–$20/wheel |
| Textured finishes | +$15–$25/wheel |
| Two-tone/machined look | +$50–$100/wheel |
| Chrome-look effects | +$75–$150/wheel |
Brake Caliper Pricing
Powder coated calipers are the ultimate complement to custom wheels. They withstand brake heat far better than paint.
Caliper Pricing by Type

|---|---|
| Standard 1-piston | $200–$300 |
| Performance 2-piston | $250–$350 |

Cost FAQs
Why is there such a price range?
Powder coating isn't one-size-fits-all. A clean 16" wheel in good condition costs less than a damaged 22" wheel needing repair and a specialty finish.
Is powder coating worth the extra cost over paint?
For parts you plan to keep long-term, absolutely. Powder coating lasts 5-10x longer than paint. For a car you're selling soon, paint might be the better budget choice.
Do you price match other shops?
We focus on quality, not being the cheapest. But we're transparent about pricing and happy to explain what's included. Many "cheaper" quotes don't include proper prep or quality powders.
Can I bring my own powder?
Yes, but we can't warranty the finish. We use automotive-grade Prismatic and Tiger powders specifically formulated for durability.
Is there a deposit required?
Yes, 50% deposit on orders over $500. Protects both parties and ensures parts don't sit waiting for pickup.
